Now is the time of year when people often think about the things for which they are thankful and how they can share their bounty with others. Beau Coast is a community that is much more than just beautiful homes in Beaufort NC, we make it a priority to be a part of the success of the greater community throughout the year. We give back to the local Carteret County community, and we like to give back to the wonderful residents of Beau Coast.

Preston Development Company, the developer of Beau Coast, has sponsored the Annual Beaufort Wine and Food Oyster Roast for the past 8 years. The popular Oyster Roast has taken place in Beau Coast’s Peninsula for last two years and is a sold-out event. Since its inception in 2005, Beaufort Wine and Food has focused on a core group of local charities as recipients for the proceeds from the events. Through the generosity and support from sponsors, members, and wine and culinary participants, Beaufort Wine and Food has donated more than $970,000 for local non-profits. The recipients of this year’s Oyster Roast were:  Scott Eckholdt Summer Camp Series benefitting the Boys and Girls Club of the Coastal Plain and Carteret County Youth; Hope Mission of Morehead City; and Martha’s Mission Cupboard.

We’ve also just held our Fifth Annual Food and Blood Drive, sponsored by Preston Development Company and Streamline Developers. With the motto of “Give Blood, Give Food, Give Thanks”, our residents have done just that. The blood drive was held on November 8, and the food drive ran through November 15. To thank our residents for their donations, each blood donation and each full bag of groceries donated earned residents’ entries for one of three Thanksgiving Dinners for Eight people from Beaufort Grocery Company. The food donations were given to Martha’s Mission Food Pantry.

In an act of appreciation for the great residents of Beau Coast, Preston Development Company hosted an event on the Club House lawn. Exclusive to Beau Coast homeowners, this wonderful social event included a pig pickin’ catered by local Fat Fellas restaurant, drinks were served by the one and only Beaufort Grocery Company and the great Embers Band provided tremendous entertainment. Our development team really enjoyed getting to meet and mingle with the wonderful people who call Beau Coast home.

Beau Coast is a special place to be, with a great sense of community. Preston Development Company donates yearly to other local charities like Beaufort Historical Society and the Boys and Girls Club, just to name a few. The developer and builder teams creating homes in Beaufort NC, and the people who are part of this community, care for the town and the people who live in it. We give back locally to do our part in keeping Beaufort the wonderful town it is and helping make Beau Coast a truly wonderful place to live.

Our State magazine recently did an article about the top 17 coastal towns and beaches in North Carolina and we’re proud that Beaufort is on that list! We’re not surprised, though, as we know how great a place Beaufort is, with its own personal charm and history, as well as its convenient location to other top coastal towns and beaches. What better reason to purchase one of the homes in Beaufort NC, particularly one of the Beau Coast homes, than to have access to this idyllic slice of coastal life.

Right here in Beaufort, you can take one of the Hungry Town Tours, bicycling and walking tours organized by owners Betsy and David Cartier. These tours combine food, history, great scenery, and plenty of fun as you explore Beaufort and learn interesting facts, like the numerous white picket fences that you’ll see throughout town are the result of an early law that required owners to keep their pigs in their yards!

After all that cycling and walking, despite the food along the way, you’re likely to want a nice dinner out and that’s always easy to find in Beaufort, which is known as a dining destination. One of the perennial favorites is the Beaufort Grocery Company. The building was originally the Owen’s Grocery Store, but after only a few months of living in Beaufort, Charles and Wendy Park decided to buy the building and turn it into an excellent restaurant that combines Charles’ culinary training, which turns out spectacular dishes using local fresh ingredients, and Wendy’s amazing pastry skills, to create a restaurant that has been a favorite since 1991. Come for the amazing food, stay for the laid-back coastal vibe of the restaurant.

Those are just a few of the many highlights of life in Beaufort. There’s also the benefit of living within easy reach of numerous other top-rated coastal towns and beaches along the Crystal Coast, North Carolina’s southern outer banks. Atlantic Beach offers surf, sand, fun, and fantastic dining. Considered one of the best beaches in the state, you can relax and enjoy the sun and surf, but you can also go fishing off the pier or try a variety of watersports and activities. There’s also plenty of great shopping and dining to round out a day trip to the area. Emerald Isle is another similar favorite nearby.

These are just a few of the top-rated beaches and coastal towns to be found along North Carolina’s coast. Of course, with Beaufort coming out on top, we think it’s a great place to visit and an even better place to live. Contact us to learn more about our variety of homes in Beaufort NC, and start exploring all that Beau Coast and the Crystal Coast has to offer.
