When it comes to choosing to work with a home builder in Beaufort NC, we work with only the best to create beautiful, top quality homes. The newest builder we’ve partnered with is Homes by Dickerson, a respected NC home builder for 50 years.

The company was founded in 1975 by Louis Dickerson. Impressively, the company entered and won its first Parade of Homes entry that same year. Linwood Strickland, who joined the company in 1984, went on to become the next owner in the 1990s. He put his mark on the company by focusing even more on the clients, creating a Client Care Department and even a client care manual. He was also responsible for setting down a specific plan for growth through innovative practices.

In 2009, under the current CEO, Brant Chesson, Homes by Dickerson built its first National Green Built Certified home, as part of the newer focus on greater commitment to energy efficient homes. This is part of the company’s core belief in building homes that aren’t just attractive but able to stand the test of time in looks and functionality.

In their 50 years of business, their focus on quality homes and customer care has paid off in multiple ways. They have been named Builder of the Year by the Home Builders Association multiple times, received numerous MAME Builder of the Year wins, and have had more than 200 entries in the Parade of Homes with multiple wins. They have also been chosen to be the builder for the 2011 Duke Children’s Miracle Home charity, have built and donated a home to the Raleigh Dream Center, and been chosen to build the 2016 HGTV Smart Home.

Service, design, commitment, quality, craftsmanship, and flexibility are at the heart of every home they build for every customer. Their aim is to create a unique home for every customer so that it easily fits the client’s needs and lifestyle. Building top-quality homes, and recognizing the important role they play in communities, are among the many reasons we are happy to have them building beautiful coastal homes at Beau Coast.

At Beau Coast, we take our role in the community of Beaufort, NC, seriously. Along with all of the amenities we offer our residents, the town itself is one of the main reasons people want to live here in our wonderful coastal homes in Beaufort NC. This is why we help sponsor various events throughout the year, as well as organize our own opportunities to give back to the community.

We are currently hosting our Fall Food Drive, running through November 18, 2024. This is an opportunity for people to Give Food and Give Thanks to benefit those in need. All food donations will be given to Martha’s Mission Food Pantry, an emergency food pantry – run solely by volunteers – helping Carteret County residents in need. In an effort to maximize donations, we are partnering with Beaufort Grocery to enter to win, a Thanksgiving Dinner for 8 for every bag of items donated. There’s no entry limit, so be generous! Drop-offs can be done at the Front Street office and Streamline Developer’s Sales Center in Beau Coast West.

This month we’re also taking part in an American Red Cross Blood Drive. Sponsored by Streamline Developers and Preston Development Company. The event will take place on November 27, 2024, in the ballroom of the Beaufort Hotel. The blood drive is being held from 11 am to 3 pm to give you plenty of time to make such an important donation, though it’s recommended to call Kristen Willis at 252-341-1325 to make an appointment. As a thank you, all donors will receive two pairs of custom FRIENDS and Red Cross socks while supplies last.

These are just two of the many ways Beau Coast strives to give back to a community that has been so welcoming and caring. This is a time of year when people often focus on the things they are thankful for, as well as trying to help others in need, and we’re glad to be able to play a part in helping the Beaufort community. If you’re considering purchasing one of the coastal homes in Beaufort NC we invite you to contact us today to learn about our homes, our amenities, and the wonderful and caring community in which we play a part.

Each year, one of the most convivial of Beaufort events is the spring Beaufort Wine & Food Festival. To tide everyone over, there’s also the fall Oyster Roast, which is coming up soon! As well as offering up delicious – and local – food and wine, the festival and roast are just some of the many ways that the Beaufort Wine and Food organization helps the community. At Beau Coast, we’re proud to be sustaining partners who support the organization that brings important social and charity events to life. We encourage residents of our new homes in Beaufort NC to visit these events and even consider other ways to get involved in the greater community.

Beaufort Wine and Food is a 501 c3 non profit that works to meet the changing needs of those in Carteret County. The first festival started as a weekend event in 2005, and was held in the charming streets of downtown Beaufort. Since then, the organization has focused on a core group of local charities as recipients for the proceeds earned from its events. As well as the money raised, the generous help from members, sponsors, and food and wine participants made it possible for Beaufort Wine and Food to donate more than $1,000,000 for local non-profits.

In fact, each year, Beaufort Wine and Food looks at the various needs of the community to determine where to focus the money raised so that it will have the biggest impact. For example, the Carteret Community College Hospitality and Culinary Arts Center features a commercial kitchen with top of the line equipment that helps train students for culinary careers. Beaufort Wine and Food has contributed $100,000 to this important project.

When Covid first hit in March 2020, the organization reached out to supporters to raise funds totaling $50,000 to aid the Carteret County restaurant workers who were severely impacted. In addition, $50,000 has gone to the Salvation Army for a commercial kitchen that better helps them feed the community during disasters, as well as helping their collaborative feeding programs. Similarly, $15,000 were raised to fund the hurricane relief efforts of the Carteret County Public School Foundation. The donation helped the organization meet a grant challenge, doubling the money going directly to employees and students in need.

This kind of fundraising remains important all year long, which is why Beau Coast is one of the sustaining partners who support the Beaufort Wine and Food efforts throughout the year. The upcoming Oyster Roast is taking place November 2, starting at 1 pm at the Beaufort Hotel front lawn. We invite the residents of our new homes in Beaufort NC to turn out and help raise money and have a tasty time. Exploring the Crystal Coast by water is one of the many draws of purchasing one of our coastal homes in Beaufort NC at Beau Coast. Along with the numerous amenities within the community, we have a Kayak Barn where residents can store their canoes and kayaks, making it easy to get out and enjoy more of the coastal lifestyle. As you head out to explore the Coast by paddleboard, kayak, or canoe, you’ll find trails and adventures for all skill levels.

Beginner paddle trails typically include wildlife and scenic views along with protected water and shorter trips, allowing novice paddlers to gain more experience. There are a variety of paddle trails ranging from from 2.3 miles to 8.4 miles, each with their own appeal. The 2.3-mile Whitehurst Creek Trail is a great starting trail that also provides paddlers with fantastic birdwatching, including pelicans, herons, egrets, shorebirds, osprey, oystercatchers, terns, and cormorants. Meanwhile the Rachel Carson Reserve Paddle is a short paddle across Taylor’s Creek, where you can rest and return or as you feel more confident, you can finish the 8.4 mile loop that includes birds, as well as a herd of feral horses.

As you gain experience and strength, there are intermediate paddle trails to explore. Among the many intermediate trails is the Whale Creek Paddle. This 5.8 mile paddle trail takes you around Harkers Island point, over to the Shackleford Banks, across the Bay Sound, before heading into Shackleford, where you will find the 19th century whaling community, as well as wonderful natural scenery that includes salt grasses and wild horses. There are even opportunities to camp on the island.

For advanced paddlers – experience and physical condition to manage open water, high and low tides, strong winds, and currents – there are a variety of trails to explore. The White Oak River Paddle Trail (17.22 miles) can be broken up into four stints or you can just do one. The trail begins at White Oak Campground and culminates at Boondocks Landing, just inside Carteret County. As you maneuver your way through, you’ll come across downed trees, beaver dams, deep and rapid water, and more adventures as you work your way along the Coast.

Another advanced option that is shorter (4.9 miles) but challenging is the Cape Lookout Lighthouse Paddle. This exciting route combines skill and scenery that includes ibis, egrets and other birds, as well as dolphins, sea turtles, stingrays and more.

These are just a few of the many kayaking and paddle trails along the Crystal Coast. Contact us today to learn more about Peninsula’s Phase 3 that is now open. We have homesites from the high $200’s with gorgeous views of the water that you will be able to explore.
